American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses arms entry-level participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course encompasses training on how to care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Courses include training online, in-class and in the pool.

Dates of Class: August 19-21, 2019 

Monday, August 19th from 5:00pm-9:00pm

Tuesday, August 20th from 1:30pm-9:00pm

Wednesday, August 21st from 12:00pm-9:00pm


  1. Minimum age: 15 years by the last day of class.

  2. Swim 300 yards continuously; using crawl and/or breaststroke with controlled breathing.

  3. Complete a timed underwater event within 1 minute, 40 seconds by starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound brick with both hands, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point  with your face above the surface of the water without using steps or a ladder.

  4. Participants must be able to tread water for two minutes using only their legs. Arms must be tucked under armpits for the entire duration.

  5. Participants MUST COMPLETE the online portion of this course, prior to the first 'in-person' training.

Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive:

American Red Cross Lifeguarding & First Aid and CPR/AED certification - Valid for 2 Years

Minimum class size is 5 people.

(Class refunds offered ONLY if a class is cancelled due to lack of participants.)

No refunds for participants who fail the prerequisites or class.

Registration deadline recommended 7 days prior to start of the course.
